Regular practice afternoons make getting started easy!

The Trentham Rifle Club shoots every Saturday during the season on the Seddon Range, Trentham; see the Programme for detailed timings  The shooting season typically runs from September through to the end of May.  Visitors are very welcome to attend an afternoon  shoot and try their hand.  The first afternoon’s shooting is free except for a charge for the ammunition used.  The Club has several club rifles, and a selection of equipment which is available for a small fee.  Each newcomer is allocated an experienced shooter who acts as their mentor to teach them the basics of shooting, rifle safety and range protocol.  A firearms licence is not necessary at this stage.  Newcomers, may attend for several weeks before being expected to apply for membership.  New members are graded as tyro class and are eligible for club trophies.  Many of the Club’s shoots are held on handicap which gives everyone a chance to win a prize.  There are several special trophies available to tyro (first year shooters) only.

An emphasis on family and social interaction!

As well as encouraging all family members to actively participate in shooting the Trentham Rifle Club also welcomes non-shooting partners and children to our informal after-shoot functions.  The Club prides itself on having the best-appointed club rooms on any range in New Zealand.  A feature of the Club is the many  social functions, BBQ's, Christmas party, and prize-giving evenings.
